U.S. Amateur Qualifying

Jade Scott of Daingerfield, Texas won the U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying event Monday at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
Scott, a redshirt sophomore this fall at Texas A&M University, had rounds of 67 and 67 to finish at 8-under-par 134 which was good enough for a two-stroke advantage over Nolan Meyer of Sioux Falls.
Scott advances to the U.S. Amateur Championship which will be held Aug. 22-28 at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisc.
Scott had six birdies and an eagle in his morning 67, then had five birdies en route to his 67 in the afternoon.
Meyer had back-to-back rounds of 68 to finish at 136 to earn the first alternate spot. The second alternate spot went to Steven Klock of Sioux Falls, who finished at 4-under 138.
