SoDak Cup

SODAK CUP/USGA TEAM POINT STANDINGS

The 2017 USGA Women's State Team Championship will be played Sept. 26-28 at The Club at Las Campanas in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Fifty percent of the points earned in 2016 will be added to 100 percent of the points earned in 2017 to determine the three representatives for the women's team in South Dakota.

Points are awarded based on a golfer's performance in the Two-Woman, Women's Match Play and Women's Amateur championships. College and high school golfers earn points, however, they are not eligible to compete in the USGA Women's Team Championship if they are a member of a school team and their season is in progress.

The 2017 SoDak Cup will be held September 30-Oct. 1 at Brookings Country Club in Brookings. The event matches ten of the top amateur golfers in the state against ten PGA professionals from SDGA member clubs. Points for the amateurs are awarded in the Two-Man, Men's Match Play, and Men's Amateur championships. The top six scorers of those players eligible to compete in the SoDak Cup automatically earn a spot on the team. The remaining four spots, regardless of points earned, are chosen by the SDGA staff and board.

A full breakdown of how points are awarded can be found at the bottom of this page, beneath the standings. Points are awarded based on final scores of all players/teams in the field regardless of flight. In the case of a tie for a position, points are added for those places and split evenly. For example, a three-way tie for eighth is worth 10 points per player (15 points for eighth, 10 for ninth, five for tenth equals 30 total points split three ways).

The USGA has retired the Men's State Team Championship. 2017 is the last year for the Women's state Team Championship.
