The mission of the South Dakota Golf Association is to foster, promote and conserve the true spirit and the best interest in the game of golf in the state of South Dakota, as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions.
The SDGA conducts 15 championships, and sponsors a statewide junior tour and two 36-hole junior invitational tournaments. 
The SDGA Junior Golf Foundation offers six $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors, conducts a variety of golf clinics and oversees The First Tee of South Dakota.
The SDGA is continually striving to improve the game of golf in South Dakota.

SALTER WINS MEN'S MID-AMATEUR TITLE
Jeff Salter of Rapid City shot a final round 67 to win the SDGA Men's Mid-Amateur Championship on Sunday at Arrowhead Country Club in Rapid City.
Salter finished the 36-hole event at 6-under par 136. Paul Schock of Sioux Falls was second at 142 after a 70 on Sunday.
Mike Brummer of Rapid City was third at 147, one stroke better than Tyler Rachetto and Steve Beardsley, both of Rapid City.  Two-time defending champion Ryan Jansa of Sioux Falls was sixth at 149.

EIGHT JUNIORS WIN TITLES AT FOX RUN
Megan Mingo of Yankton and Josh Weismantel of Watertown won titles in the 2010 SDGA Junior Championship on Tuesday at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.
Mingo won the Girls 16-18 Division with a 36-hole score of 156, which was one stroke better than Rachel Patnoe of Milbank.
Weismantel shot a 2-under 142 for 36 holes to win the Boys 16-18 Division by two strokes over Kyle Kopplin of Piedmont and Shane O'Brien of Rapid City.
In the 14-15 Division, Jordan Rolstad of Sisseton won the boys division with a score of 152, while Claire Jansa of Sioux Falls won the girls title with a score of 161.
On Monday, Erin Rezich of Rapid City won the Girls 12-13 title with a score of 94 and Jace Guthmiller of Yankton won the Boys 12-13 title with a score of 68.
Jade Burr of Belle Fource won the Girls 11-under title with a 52, while Bryce Hammer of Sioux Falls won the Boys 11-under crown with a 39.
In the Adult-Junior Championship held Sunday, Jason and Mac Young Young of Rapid City shot a 2-under-par 70, which was one stroke better than Grant and Zach Smalley of Pierre.

MURPHY WINS SDGA WOMEN'S MATCH PLAY TITLE
Maggie Murphy of Sioux Falls defeated Sarah Koontz of Rapid City 4 and 3 in the SDGA Women's Match Play Championship finale Monday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
Murphy, a spring graduate of New Mexixo State, also won the SDGA Women's Amateur Championship at Lakeview GC in 2007.

MEYER WINS SDGA MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
Nolan Meyer of Sioux Falls birdied the first hole of a playoff to beat Ben Irlbeck of Marion in the finals of the SDGA Men's Match Play Championship on Monday at The Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City.
In semifinal matches that ended Monday morning because of a suspension in play Sunday, Meyer defeated Mac Young of Rapid City 3 and 2, while Irlbeck defeated Phil Henzlik of Rapid City 4 and 3.

TOP SEED OUSTED IN MEN'S MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
Mac Young of Rapid City defeated top-seeded Tom Carlson of Sioux Falls 7 and 6 in Sunday's quarterfinals of the Men's Match Play Championship at The Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City.
Young, who will be senior in high school this fall and is the son of Red Rock golf professional Jason Young, was 1 up after six holes before winning the next six holes to close out the 2007-08 champion.
In other quarterfinal matches Sunday, Nolan Meyer of Sioux Falls defeated Shane Tipton of Rapid City 5 and 4, Ben Irlbeck of Marion birdied the final hole to beat Brian Wynia of Sioux Falls 1 up and Phil Henzlik of Raid City eliminated Joel Harrington of Sioux Falls 3 and 1.
Severe weather in the Rapid City area has delayed the start of the semifinal round. Once play begins, Young and Meyer will square off in the first match followed by Irlbeck against Henzlik.
The 36-hole finale is set for Monday.

WOMEN'S MATCH PLAY QUARTERFINALS ON SUNDAY
Medalist Kimmy Kaufman of Clark  leads a group of eight players into the quarterfinals of the Women's Match Play Championship at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
Kaufman won both her matches on Saturday and will face Jenny Schneider on Sunday.
Also reaching the quarterfinals are Peggy Kirby of Sioux Falls, who ousted defending champion Dani Bellet of Lead; Maggie Murphy and Karla Murra, both of Sioux Falls, Sarah Koontz of Rapid City, Morgan Fitts of Brookings and Brittany Hanten of Goodwin.

JANSAS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT SDGA CHAMPIONSHIP
Ryan and Julie Jansa of Sioux Falls won a record-tying fifth SDGA Husband-Wife Championship on Sunday at Brookings Country Club in Brookings.
The Jansas, who won for a record fifth-straight year, tied the overall mark set by Rick and Jeri Krsnak of Sioux Falls in 1989.
Heavy rains Saturday forced the championship to be reduced to 27 holes. The Jansas, who started the day with a four-stroke lead after an opening-round 67, finished with a total of 3-under-par 104, good enough for a one-shot victory over two-time champions Scott and Julie Witlock of Aberdeen.
Rob and Betsy deWit of Sioux Falls were third at 109, followed by Jon and Kristin McInerney of Brandon at 112.
Other flight winners were: George and Jill Mollner of Sioux Falls (second flight); Bob and Eva McGlone of Rapid City (third flight); Andy and Kristi Ullom of Madison (fourth flight); Dave and Carla Ewald of Yankton (fifth flight); and Bruce and Diann Ullom of Madison (sixth flight).

CARLSON, EGGE WIN
TWO-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Tom Carlson and Brett Egge won their first SDGA Two-Man Championship on Sunday afternoon at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
The Sioux Falls golfers finished the 36-hole event with a score of 9-under par 135 to win by one shot. Carlson and Egge, who started the day in third place two strokes out of the lead, birdied the final hole and closed with a 68 in the Chapman portion.
Levi Smith of Sioux Falls and Kyle Cooper of Brookings were at 136 along with Chad Kalil of Brookings and Tim Kalil of Rapid City.
Three teams, including defending champions Brett Coluccio and Brett Abbotts of Mitchell, were tied for fourth at 137.

FORMER SDGA WOMEN'S CHAMP ENTERS NEW MEXICO STATE HALL OF FAME
Sioux Falls native Jane (Egan) Noble was inducted into the New Mexico State University Hall of Fame during ceremonies held Feb. 27 in Las Cruces, N.Mex.
Noble won three SDGA Women's Amateur titles (1987, 1989-90) during her distinguished amateur career.

JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION OFFERING SIX $1,500 SCHOLARSHIPS
The SDGA Junior Golf Foundation is offering six $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors graduating in the spring of 2010.

The scholarships are available to students who will be attending college in South Dakota beginning in the fall of 2010.
