FORMER SDGA WOMEN'S CHAMP ENTERING NEW MEXICO STATE HALL OF FAME
Sioux Falls native Jane (Egan) Noble will be inducted into the New Mexico State University Hall of Fame during ceremonies held Feb. 27 in Las Cruces, N.Mex.
Noble won three SDGA Women's Amateur titles (1987, 1989-90) during her distinguished amateur career.

JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION OFFERING SIX $1,500 SCHOLARSHIPS
The SDGA Junior Golf Foundation is offering six $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors graduating in the spring of 2010.
The scholarships are available to students who will be attending college in South Dakota beginning in the fall of 2010.

SECOND ANNUAL GOLF EXPO SET FOR FEBRUARY 27-28
The second annual SDGA Golf Expo, sponsored by Sanford Health, will be held February 27-28, 2010 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
More than 70 exhibitors will be in attendance and among the highlights will be the $10,000 putting contest as well as a 9-hole putting course that will provide an opportunity for someone to be called "The Best Putter in South Dakota.
Two-time U.S. Open winner Andy North will be at the Golf Expo on Saturday, February 27.

PROFESSIONALS CAPTURE SODAK CUP
The Professional Team defeated the Amateur Team 12-8 to win the 14th annual SoDak Cup on Sunday at Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls. The victory is the first since 1999 for the Professional Team.

RAPID CITY TEAMS CAPTURE SDGA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Jeff Salter and Jon Lesselyoung, both of Rapid City, won their first SDGA Mid-Amateur Two-Man Championship, while the Rapid City duo of Doug Murphy and Steve Beardsley won a second consecutive SDGA Senior Two-Man Championship on Sunday in Rapid City.
Salter and Lesselyoung shot a five-under 138 to win the Mid-Amateur played at Arrowhead Country Club and the Golf Club at Red Rock. Kevin Buntrock and Greg O'Kelley of Rapid City and defending champions Steve Reiter and Ryan Jansa of Sioux Falls tied for second at 140.
In the Senior Two-Man, Murphy and Beardsley fired a 27-hole score of 2-under 105 at Arrowhead Country Club to win by three strokes over Mike Brummer and Hugh Welsh of Rapid City.
Heavy rain on Saturday forced the Senior Two-Man to a 27-hole tournamment and caused the Mid-Amateur to be played on two courses.

MENDOZA WINS FIRST SDGA MEN'S SENIOR TITLE
Lou Mendoza of Eagle Butte captured his first SDGA Men's Senior Championship on Sunday.
Mendoza fired a final-round 68 at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell to finish the 36-hole event at 7-under-par 137.
Mendoza finished with a flourish, recording birdies on holes 11, 12 and 14 before eagling the par-5 15th.
Four-time defending champion Mike Brummer of Rapid City was second at 144. Steve Pelzl of Aberdeen was third at 145, while Steve Dietrich of Sioux Falls was fourth at 147.

JANSA, KAUFMAN WIN SDGA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ryan Jansa of Sioux Falls won his seventh SDGA Men's Amateur Championship, while Kim Kaufman of Clark captured her first Women's Amateur Championship on Sunday.
Jansa shot a final-round 67 at Willow Run GC in Sioux Falls to finish at 7-under 206, one better than Match Play champion Nate Barbee of Dakota Dunes and two ahead of Tom Carlson of Sioux Falls.
Kaufman, who will be a freshman at Texas Tech, shot a final-round 71 at Bakker Crossing GC in Sioux Falls to finish at 2-over 215.
Defending champion Karla Murra of Sioux Falls was second at 217 and Jenny Schneider of Mitchell was third at 222.
JANSA WINS RECORD 15TH SDGA TITLE AT MEN'S MID-AMATEUR
Sioux Falls' Ryan Jansa fired a second-consecutive 2-under-par 70 to win the SDGA Men's Mid-Amateur Championship by a shot on Sunday at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club in Yankton.
By successfully defending his title, Jansa moves to the top of the SDGA career wins list with 15. He has six Amateur, four Husband & Wife, two Match, two Mid-Amateur and one Mid-Amateur Two-Man win.
Jansa ended up with a 4-under 140 (70-70) total. First-round leader Scott Holm of Brookings was second at 141 (68-73).
Jansa, who entered the day facing a two shot deficit, fell six shots behind Holm early on. Holm got things going with three birdies in his first five holes, and had a six-shot lead heading to the seventh.
However, the 1985 Junior champ proceeded to make four consecutive bogeys, and Jansa mixed in a birdie at the eighth and a bogey at the 10th to close the gap to two shots after 10 holes.
Jansa picked up another shot with a birdie at the 14th.
Both golfers made birdie on No. 15, before Jansa took his first lead of the day with a par at the par-3 16th. Holm's tee shot found the water hazard, and he ended up making double-bogey.
Both players made par on No. 17, and they then made birdies at the 312-yard, par-4 18th. Holm nearly drove the green at the 18th, while Jansa hit it in the left rough. Jansa hit his approach shot to about three feet, while Holm faced four feet for birdie.
Holm holed his putt first, and Jansa calming sank his putt to seal the win.
Rapid City’s Kirk Allison won a scorecard playoff to take third at 151 (75-76). Sioux Falls’ Mark Amundson was fourth with 151 (74-77) and Rapid City’s Shane Tipton took fifth at 154 (75-79).
Flight winners include: Yankton’s Scott Hiltunen (second flight), Sioux Falls’ Mark Benedetto (third), Vermillion’s Neil Chapman (fourth) and Dell Rapids’ Ken Reuland (fifth).
KIRBY, ROHDE WIN WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sioux Falls' Peggy Kirby won the SDGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, while Brandon's Karen Rohde was victorious in the SDGA Women's Senior Championship on Sunday at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
It was Kirby's ninth SDGA win and first since the 2006 Mid-Amateur. Rohde now has four SDGA titles, including two Senior Championships.
Kirby, who entered the day with a two-shot lead, posted a two-day total of 158 (78-80).
Kirby trailed Aberdeen's Heidi Ruch by a shot entering the 18th hole, however, Ruch made a quintuple-bogey 9 and Kirby made a solid par to win by four shots.
Ruch wound up in second at 162 (80-82). Ruch erased a two-shot deficit early on and went up by one at the turn after a 1-over 37 on the opening nine. Kirby took the lead back with a birdie at the 11th, before Ruch went back up by a shot with a birdie at the 16th. Both players bogeyed No. 17, as Ruch was up one entering the 18th.
Rapid City's Kathryn Barrett captured the overall net title with a 144 (76-68) total.
For the seniors, Rohde won by a shot after a tournament-low 79 in the second round. She had a two-day total of 169 (90-79). Janet Boyum finished runner-up at 170 (83-87).
Rohde's final round included one birdie. She bogeyed the 18th to card a 39 on the back.
Boyum, playing a group behind Rohde, double-bogeyed the 18th en route to finishing one shot back.
Boyum, who was in the second flight, also won the overall net title with a score of 138 (67-71).
Sioux Falls' Jeri Krsnak was the first-flight net champion with a score of 147 (74-73).
BARBEE CAPTURES MEN'S MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP
Nate Barbee of Dakota Dunes defeated Curry Kuehl of Pierre 3 and 2 on Monday to win the SDGA Men's Match Play Championship at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion.
Barbee, who will be a junior at Kansas, was 4 up after seven holes. Kuehl birdied the par-5 15th, to cut the lead to two, but Barbee closed out the match with a bogey on No. 16.
In Monday morning's semifinals, Barbee defeated Tyler Evenson of Lead 5 and 4, while Kuehl, who will be a freshman at Northern State, reached the finals with a 6 and 5 win over Tyler Rachetto of Rapid City.

BELLET WINS WOMEN'S MATCH PLAY TITLE
Lead's Danielle Bellet defeated Sioux Falls' Karla Murra, 2 and 1, in the SDGA Women's Match Play Championship final on Monday at Prairie Green Golf Course.
Bellet, who posted her first career SDGA win, two-putted from 17 feet for par on the 17th hole to claim the victory. Murra, the No. 1 seed in the tournament and the reigning SDGA Women's Amateur champion, had a 20-foot putt for birdie on the 17th, but came away empty handed.
After a tight match early on, Bellet got things going on the sixth, going 1-up with a chip-in birdie. She followed that up with another birdie on the seventh to go 2-up, and the players then halved the next three holes.
Bellet won the 11th with a par to go 3-up, and then extended the lead to four with a birdie at the 13th. The players halved the 14th as Bellet went dormie 4.
But, just as she did the entire tournament, Murra started to battle back. She won the 15th hole with a birdie and the 16th with a par to get within two. However, the run ended there, as she had to settle for par at the 17th.
Bellet, the No. 7 seed, is a sophomore at Dakota Wesleyan.
In the consolation bracket, Brookings' Kelly Evans came out victorious, 5 and 3, over Sioux Falls' Patty Coddington.
Evans won the first hole and never trailed in her victory. Up one after 10 holes, she won the 11th, 12th and 13th to take a commanding four-hole lead. Evans and Coddington halved the 14th, before Evans ended the match on No. 15.
This marked the first women's match play event since 1962, as the Women's Amateur was changed from match play to medal play in 1963.
JANSAS WIN RECORD FOURTH-CONSECUTIVE SDGA TITLE
Ryan and Julie Jansa of Sioux Falls won their fourth consecutive SDGA Husband-Wife Championship on Sunday at the Golf Club at Red Rock in Rapid City.
In becoming the first couple to win four straight titles in this event, the Jansas shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday, including an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole in the alternate-shot format,. They finished the 36-hole event at 4-under-par 140.
Rob and Betsy dewit of SIoux Falls finished second at 149, while Adam and Heather Anderson of Mitchell and Jon and Kristin McInerny of Brandon tied for third at 155. Bert and Cindy Olson of Sioux Falls were fifth at 156.
Flight winners were:
Jerry and Anne Fisher of Rapid City, second flight (161); Jon and Veronica Lesselyoung, Rapid City, third flight (164); Mark and Michelle Ell, Rapid City, fourth flight (167); and David and Carla Ewald, Yankton, fifth flight (185).
BROOKINGS SISTERS WIN TWO-WOMAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Morgan and Lauren Fitts of Brookings parred the first playoff hole to win the SDGA Two-Woman Championship on Sunday afternoon at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
The Fitts's defeated first-round leaders Kati Scholten of Brookings and Chelsea Cadwell of Sioux Falls to win their first Two-Woman title. The Fitts sisters shot 68 on Sunday to finish the 36-hole event at 2-under 140. Scholten and Cadwell, who opened with a 69 on Saturday, shot a 73 in Sunday's Chapman format.
Patty Coddington and Peggy Kirby of Sioux Falls finished third at 144. Defending champions Allison Stewart of Vermillion and Sydney Sturdivant of Sioux Falls were fourth at 147.
Krista Young of Rapid City and Jennifer Stalley of Pierre won the net division with a 36-hole score of 126 in placing first in the second flight.
Kathryn Barrett and Royaune Jasinski of Rapid City won the first flight (130) and Dannelle Keninger and Michelle Eimers of Madison won the third flight (135).
MITCHELL GOLFERS CLAIM TWO-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Mitchell's Brett Coluccio and Brett Abbotts won their first SDGA title, capturing the Two-Man Championship on Sunday at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.
Coluccio and Abbotts shot a five-under 67 in Sunday's Chapman format to finish the 36-hole event at 10-under 134.
Matt Erickson of Dell Rapids and Nolan Meyer of Sioux Falls finished second at 136 after a 70 on Sunday. Two Sioux Falls teams -- Brett Bennett and Ben Rinken, and Chad Dubisar and Bill Joens, tied for third at 137. Defending champions Mike Brummer of Rapid City and Pat Lockwood of Brookings tied for fifth at 138.

TWO ELECTED TO HALL OF FAME
Mark Amundson and Ray Laird III have been elected to the SDGA Golf Hall of Fame. The vote came during the annual meeting of the SDGA Board of Directors on January 23-24 in Sioux Falls.
Amundson and Laird III are both from Sioux Falls. They become the 38th and 39th people elected to the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1977. They will be enshrined during ceremonies held later this summer.
Amundson has won 13 SDGA titles, including Match Play championships in 1985, 1989 and 2000 and the Men's Amateur Championship in 1999. He and his wife Margaret won four Husband-Wife Championships and he teamed with Pat Lockwood of Brookings to win the Two-Man Championship five times .
Amundson is currently the director of operations for Destination Golf Ventures of Sioux Falls, which is currently developing a 36-hole destination club near Valentine, Neb. He is also the director of operations at Sutton Bay and the director of marketing and development for Graham Marsh Golf Design.
Laird III is a six-time SDGA champion, including the 1986 and 1989 Men's Amateur championships and the 1998-99 Senior championships. He was runner-up in the 1975 and 1977 Match Play championships. He has also competed in the US Amateur and US Mid-Amateur championships.
In 1982 Laird III joined the USGA Junior Boys Committee, a position he still holds. In 1987 he joined the USGA Rules Committee and he has officiated at the US Open, the US Senior Open, the US Junior Amateur and the US Amateur.
